Chapter 15

Gabby looked around the room and couldn’t keep her focus off of Slim and Vanessa. He seemed to really be enjoying her company and that had Gabby fearful. Every touch between the two, intimate or not, was like a knife deflating her dreams. She knows she messed up, but all she needed was chance to make things right. She was hoping that he would at least let her tell her side of the story, but that didn’t happen. When she saw him walk away from Brock, she could tell something was different. Even though he was trying to smile, something had gone wrong again. She couldn’t help but wonder what Brock could have said and if it involved her.

She made her way to him before Vanessa could get him back in her claws. He just looked at her as she pulled him towards another part of the house away from everyone.

“Slim we need to talk,” she pleaded with him.

“For what? You made your decision,” he said as he looked down at her like she meant nothing to him.

She wanted to give up and run away, but she knew he was worth fighting for. She stood a little straighter and looked him straight in the eye and said,

“I know I made a mistake, but at least hear me out.”

“Why?”

“Please…”

“I would, but I have someone waiting for me and now is not the time for this. Maybe one day this will be a conversation worth having, but right now I could care less,” he said as he walked away.

Gabby didn’t know what to think. Was he saying that she no longer mattered? Was he saying that he needed time to cool off? He could care less? Her mind was racing a mile a minute as he just left and went back to Vanessa. She was so hurt that he would treat her so cold that she just ducked out of the party. She knew she would have to apologize to Brock and Mina later, but there was no way she was going to hang around and continue watching him move on while she was stuck on repeat.

Once she made it home, she just crumbled into a heap on floor. She was too weak to make it past the den. She just laid there and cried for all she lost. There was not a doubt in her mind that Slim was moving on. So now all she had to do was figure out to do the same.

When she awakened the next morning, one thing was clear. She was going to get Slim back by any means necessary. She didn’t care if she had to display her past before the world, he was worth it. She knew he at least deserved to know the truth behind her actions. If he knew everything and still decided to walk away…That was not an option! That was her man and she was going to have him, bottom line!
